In 2019, Melanie Speechly, the CASA Program’s Statewide Administrator, reached out to Costa Vida to obtain some ‘buy one get one free’ meal cards for the advocates out in the rural areas because they don’t have the opportunity to participate in as many activities. As she explained our program’s history and mission to a franchise owner. He then said that he thought as a state, Costa Vida could do more than I asked. She was given the name of someone at corporate, and they said they would present our organization to the Utah Franchise owners when they met. They said, “Our brand has always been focused on serving those who serve, so I’m optimistic that our partners will jump on this opportunity.”
They generously agreed to provide 500 free meals to the children our advocates work with. Costa Vida Corporate also donated dinner for an appreciation event we held in Salt Lake City for 50 volunteers. The dinner was fabulous and really helped us show our appreciation for these volunteers that spend up to 10 hours a month serving children who are involved in the court system through no fault of their own.
