Personal Info and Experience

Matt Brown was recently announced as the Chief Marketing Officer at Social5, a social media management company that helps all sized businesses with their on-line media strategies. Brown has 20 plus years experience in advertising and marketing at the highest levels. Most recently Brown returned to his native Utah, from Los Angeles, to help KUTV Channel 2 with strategic alliances in brand management and digital asset growth under the title of Executive Director of Strategic Marketing & Brand Management.

As a member of the KUTV Executive Team over the last two years online revenue grew +29%, KUTV ousted KSL from the #1. news position in ratings and the station’s facebook fanbase went from 4,000 fans to over 380,000. Brown was also responsible for creating and implementing new station initiatives Fresh Living, Family Matters and Road Trippin’. Prior to joining KUTV Brown worked with Evergreen Films in a joint partnership on 3D television feeds and rights for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South African Games. Brown also served as Vice President of Marketing, Communications & Research at Adlink. Adlink is the nation’s largest digital interconnect with offices in Los Angeles and New York. At the time of Brown’s tenure Adlink was owned by Comcast, Time Warner, Cox and Charter Communications.

At Adlink Brown created and launched two start up divisions, Sportslink L.A and a Hispanic division AdConexion L.A. Both divisions won CTAM’s (Cable Television Advertising & Marketing) Mark! Award, the industry’s highest marketing honor. AdConexion L.A also won the EMMA Award (Excellence In Multicultural Marketing). Brown also worked for Viacom at Paramount Studios as Executive Director Of Sales Services for 128 UPN Television stations. Brown started his career in advertising and marketing with a FOX Television station group owned by Barry Diller. Brown was Director of Research and worked directly with the New Orleans Saints through the NFL on Fox agreement, which included three Mike Ditka Coaches shows per week.

Personal Accomplishments

Brown has been a judge for the LCA (Lights, Camera, Action) Awards in Los Angeles, a former board member for CTAM, and speaker on many panels and contributor to mentoring programs.

Brown has also been involved with numerous philanthropy efforts including Comedy Rx a partnership with Comedy Central, Ray Ramano, Kevin James and Dane Cook to help research efforts at UCLA Medical Center for children dealing with life threating illnesses.

Currently Brown sits on the Utah’s Friends of CASA Board of Directors, (Court Appointed Special Advocates) a volunteer organization helping abused and neglected children in the state of Utah and around the country.

Through his involvement with CASA, Brown and his family have founded and funded The Donna M. Brown annual scholarship for deserving teens connected to CASA.
